Ed Guides Elite NFL Group To Rainier Summit
On July 8, NFL commissioner Roger Goodell, Seattle Seahawks coach Jim Mora and Seahawks CEO Tod Leiweke, summitted Mount Rainier (14,410′) as part of the United Way Climb for the Community. Led by First Ascent Guides Peter Whittaker, Ed Viesturs and Seth Waterfall, the team overcame the challenges of physical and mental fitness, high altitude and the unknown dangers on the most extensively glaciated volcanic peak in the lower 48 states. The climb raised $380,000 for United Way of King County’s food and housing programs. Eddie Bauer also supported the cause, fully outfitting the eight-member team in First Ascent gear.

Ed makes 200th Summit to Mt Rainier

Ed Viesturs climbed to the summit of 14,411' Mt Rainier for his 200th ascent. It was very cold, windy day but beautifully clear. Joining him to the top were two other Rainier Mountaineering guides Melissa Arnot and Corey Raivio as well as 6 participants of the annual Viesturs/Whittaker climbs. Viesturs and Whittaker plan to offer more of these climbs for 2008. Stay tuned for more info and dates.
